Second Partnership session on Ukraine

This second session on Ukraine brought together Partnership members and key external stakeholders, such as frontline cities, to discuss the most pressing issues and solutions around the inclusion of those people displaced by the war in Ukraine.

Main takeaways:

  • Actors across the EU have quickly mobilised to provide support to those displaced from Ukraine. Relevant initiatives include the new EMBRACE advisory platform of the European Investment Bank which aims to help cities, regions and EU Member States to better address the needs of Ukrainian refugees and host communities; the Info-Support Hub of the Committee of the Regions, or the European Council of Municipalities and Regions’ Task Force on Ukraine.

  • Several cities shared their experiences collecting data about the recent arrivals from Ukraine, for instance through targeted surveys, to deliver adequate support and services.

  • Participants also shared pressing challenges, including accommodation, data, and the sustainability of the initiatives to support displaced Ukrainians.
